Summer Loving

I am all about movie quotes, song lyrics, and anything that I can quote really. Summer Loving is from Grease, if did not already know that. I am going to tell you a few things that I love about summer!

County Fairs

I am not a city girl or a country girl; I am definitely a mixture. I love the county fair though. I have been to the Miami County Fair at least every year since I was younger. My cousins used to do 4H and they showed their cows, pigs, and sheep. I remember one year going with my grandparents. I got in the pin with the pigs and just brushed them. It smelled really bad, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I was about seven or eight at the time. It was a lot of fun. I love to go and look at all of the projects that the kids have worked on. 4H is a really cool program and I would encourage any kid to try it out.

Circus

I grew up near Peru, IN. If you have never heard of that, don’t feel bad. Peru, IN is a small town in north of Indianapolis. It is the Circus Capitol of the World. The International Circus Hall of Fame is located there and they also have an amateur circus the third week in July ever year. The performers range from 7 to 21 years old. It is an amazing show and the acts are almost always different. My two favorite acts are the Flying Trapeze and High Wire. Both are breathtaking to watch; they are also very difficult to perform. I have known some of the performers and graduated high school with several of them. Some of the performers get the opportunity to travel with other circuses. They are all very talented kids who go on to do great things. I have gone to the circus a lot over the years and my cousin has played in the live band they use for the different acts.

Country Roads

One of my favorite things about summer is driving on country roads with the windows down and jamming to music. Being from a small town, our neck of the woods is full of country roads to drive on. In high school, I loved just driving in the summer. I still love to, but between two jobs and an online class ain’t nobody got time for that. I enjoy listening to country music and my favorite new country artist is Sam Hunt. My favorites on his album are Cop Car, Take Your Time, Ex to See, House Party, and Break Up in a Town. If you have not listened to him, I highly recommend him.  It is perfect music to jam out to. I love making mixed CDs. My friend Ashlee and I road tripped to Michigan one day to get a Detroit Starbucks mug. She collects them; she has 10 state mugs and one international mug. We jammed out to Sam Hunt most of the trip.

Time for Friends

The summer before I came to college was probably my favorite summer. My favorite part about it was hanging out with my friends. We did a bible study all summer and at the end of July, we went to Holiday World as an end of the summer celebration. It was so much fun! If you are still in high school or just graduated, take the rest of the summer to relax before you go off to college. Your parents will tell you to get a job, and it is smart to get one, but make sure you have time for yourself and your friends. If you are going far away for college, this is your last chance to have a fun summer most likely. I thought that I would be at home for my summers in college; however, God had another plan. You never knew what is ahead in life. Make the most of your time right now. Don’t worry about your future, you will have plenty of time for that. To quote a musical, seize the day! Take your life one day at a time.

What do you love about summer? Feel free to comment below with your favorite summer activities or memory. I look forward to reading your comments.

Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Until next time my sassy peaches,
