Blessed

The word blessed has different meanings for different people. For some, it is being blessed with gifts, blessed with looks, and others are blessed with earthly items. The meaning of blessed to me is being blessed with amazing people in my life that care about me and love me. This blog post goes out to all of the people in my life that have impacted me and will always support me. I also encourage all of you readers to think about what and who God has blessed you with.

Family

My family and I are very close. It has always been the five of us against the world. We have been through everything together and I could not ask for a better family. We have traveled, danced, sang, had game nights, movie nights, and so much more. Even though us girls are growing up, we still love being home. When you have awesome and supportive parents like mine, you love going home.

One of my favorite things about my family is that we travel. We have made trips to Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Colorado, and maybe more. We have family in Virginia and we have gone to visit them several times. We also had family in West Virginia for a while and my sister currently lives there. We went and visited her last Christmas. We have been peach picking in Michigan, which is a lot of fun. We went to Colorado when my dad had a conference out there for his business. We also went up Pike’s Peak; I got sick, but it was still fun.  We have family in Ohio and go visit them when we have reunions. We have gone to Florida too many times for me to count. My grandparents have a house down there and we love going down there for vacation. It is so much fun. We have all gone down together and we have been there separately.

Friends

I have the greatest friends a girl could ask for. I have friends that have been by my side since middle school and friends that I have just become friends with in the past year. It is crazy how close I am to so many girls. I would not change them for anything.

My friends from middle school and high school are amazing. We have stuck together through thick and thin. Through death, boys, haircuts, wardrobe disasters, high school crushes, youth group, shopping, different futures, different colleges, and so much more. Marissa, Hannah, and I have been the three amigas since 8th grade and I could not have asked for two better best friends.

Marissa has been my best friend since 8th grade science class. We have been through so much. From my crush finding out I liked him to guys breaking our hearts and us mending them with ice cream. We have been on more shopping dates than I can count, have played Just Dance for countless hours, spent long periods of time with each other’s families that we are basically family members, celebrated important birthdays together, and had hundreds of jam sessions. I could not ask for a better best friend, partner in crime, and long lost sister. One of my favorite things about our friendship is we can look at each other and know what we are thinking. We do it a lot when from across the room. We learned how to do it during high school. We would be in the middle of English or Spanish and just look at each other and giggle. My second favorite thing about our friendship is that no matter where we are in life, we knew we will always be there for each other. We are each other’s biggest support system and it is so great to have that.

Hannah and I have also been friends since 8th grade. Marissa and Hannah have been best friends since they were babies, but they decided I could join them. Hannah and I don’t get to hang out as much, but our senior year we had two classes in a row together. We were on the yearbook team and our friendship grew. We also had Spanish class together for I think three out of four years. It was great to have a friend in my classes. She is the one who introduced me to The Lord of Rings movies. She insisted that I watched them; they were the extended editions as well. It took all day and I was still confused by the end, but she was so excited. We also both love the Marvel superheros. Her favorite is Iron Man, while mine is Captain America. One year for Christmas I got her a Robert Downey Jr. t-shirt that had him winking. It was so funny to see her face. I wish we got to hang out more, but we growing up is rough.

I have had a close group of friends since freshman year in high school and we are still in contact today. I are all at different colleges and stages in life, but that does not matter. We all seem to make our way back to one another. I love them and would not trade them for the world.

My first two years of college so far have been amazing. I have three best friends that I would not have thought I would be so close to. The funny thing is all of their names start with As: Amanda, Anna, and Ashlee. Amanda and Anna have been there since the beginning and Ashlee has become a wonderful friend this past year.

Amanda, my freshman roommate, best friend, green lover, introduced me to Chinese food and Mountain Dew, makes me laugh, makes me feel awkward, supports me no matter what I am doing, and loves me so much, is all of those things and so much more. She saw how sassy I was in the first ten minutes of meeting me. She is the person that I always go to for advice and to just talk. We have been roommates for the past two years and we are going to be roommates again in about week. Two of my favorite moments with Amanda have been star gazing and when she told me about this guy she thought was cute. We went star gazing one night our freshmen year and we have gone more than I can count since then. We take a blanket with us and walk to this clearing where you can see most of the sky. We sit and talk for about an hour or until we get to cold. It is relaxing and something I wish we did more often. Amanda is not the kind of girl to openly express all of her emotions and feelings, however; she was open when she had a crush on this guy, Adam, she had spent a weekend of training, getting to know. I am a good judge of character and can pick up on how people interact with each other. We went to an event and he was hanging around us. I tried to see how he interacted with her and other people. Afterward, he invited us to Steak’n’Shake. He drove his motorcycle and another girl drove her car. There were five of us in the car and his best friend was with us. He kept asking her questions and I could tell that he was asking on behalf of Adam. When we were leaving, Adam’s wingman said that Amanda wanted to ride on his motorcycle, so off they went. I act a lot like a mom with my friends so I was kind of worried, but I knew she could take care of herself. When we got back, I had to wait for her because she didn’t have her keys or phone. When she came in, she was super excited and could not wipe the smile off of her face. It was adorable and they have been dating for 11 months as of today.  I cannot believe we are graduating this year, but I know that we will keep in touch no matter what.

Anna and I met the first day of college as well. We were in the same freshman course together and we were with each other the whole year. We did projects together and other stuff in class, but we also got to talk outside of class as well. I think we become really close over last summer. We were both staying in town for work and we were all each other really had friend wise. It was nice to have someone that was around and we had weekly lunch dates. I was also the person that dressed her for her engagement. It was her and her boyfriend at the time, now husband, eighth month anniversary and he was going to propose. Collin told me that he was proposing and I was so excited. It was all I could do not to tell her. I let her borrow a dress, helped her get ready, and sent her off to get engaged. It was so much fun. I was in there wedding this past December and we have stayed close ever since. I don’t know what I would do without her and her wonderful advice.

Ashlee and I were roommates my sophomore year. We met two or three times before rooming together. We roomed with my friend Amanda and her friend Savannah. We were kind of forced to room together, but it ended up working out great. Ashlee and I bonded because Savannah and Amanda were always busy and we hung out. It was nice to have a friend who was willing to just go and get food or just to talk to whenever. I don’t remember the exact moment that I knew Ashlee and I would be friends forever, but I am so glad that we were roommates. Ashlee and I went on Starbucks/coffee dates all the time. We are both also big into movies and our first roomie date was going to see The Best of Me and eat Panda Express. We love going to half priced apps at Applebee’s, going to get food, meeting up to talk for even five minutes, shared our first carriage ride, took a spontaneous road trip to get a Starbucks You Are Here collection mug, facetiming each other and talking for three hours, and she also come up with my nickname. She is one of the best friends that I have ever had and I am so glad that she is not doing an internship abroad because that means I will see each other sooner. We also plan to room together again and travel around to different states for Starbucks mugs. Ashlee is my newest best friend, but she will definitely be my best friend forever.

Being blessed has shown me how great God is. He provides me with people he knows will take care of me no matter what, he provides me with things I need even when I don’t appreciate them, and he loves me beyond measure even when I don’t listen to him. God has blessed me in my 20 some years of living on this earth and I know that he will continue to do so no matter what. Thank you to all who have blessed me with love, friendship, and support. You have made a difference in my life and I cannot thank you enough.

John 1:16 – From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.

Until next time my sassy peaches,

EM
