Spring Break of Firsts

My spring break may have been a month or two ago, but I still wanted to share my trip with y’all.

Some students travel the world over their spring breaks. Some go places they have never been before. I have experienced life like I never have before.

I traveled to Nashville, TN to spend a week with family friends who have three children.

My spring break was a week of firsts.

Driving down by myself. I have never driven by myself longer than about two hours. It was an experience that showed me it is normal to be by yourself and it is okay to slow down.

Driving on a four lane highway. I do not live in a huge town and we do not have four lane highways. It was definitely different and scary for me, but a good experience to go through and learn from.

Changed a diaper for the first time. I am the baby of my family and I never had to change a diaper before. It was quite the experience. This little girl Indy is not a hold still kind of girl; she is a mover. It was not a small task, but we did not make a messy and the diaper stayed on, so I call that success. I also strapped a child into a car seat. It was a big week learning about kids.

Spending the week with a 7 ½ year old, 2 ½ year old, and an 8 month old. That is no small task. I love kids and seeing what moms go through on a daily basis makes me respect my mom and all of you moms out there.

Learned the importance of building up muscle before you have children. I carried around a 2 ½ year old a couple times and I realized how heavy they are and how weak I am.

An odd first for me was having ginger beet juice. We went to a grocery store called The Turnip Truck and had lunch there. It is an organic grocery store and it is really cool on the inside. They had a salad bar, a hot bar, a sandwich area, and a juice bar. One of the juices of the day was red juice. It contained carrots, ginger, beets, and some other fruits and veggies. It was not my favorite, but it was decent.

A huge first for me was having my first big girl job interview. I have had job interviews before but this one was for my future career. It went great and I have a couple more coming up soon.

Tried Cream Soda for the first time. It is like a vanilla marshmallow soda. It is quite delicious.

We all need to be uncomfortable sometimes. Step outside your comfort zone and go on an adventure! You won’t regret it.

Until next time my sassy peaches,

EM
