Fear, where is your place?

We all don’t want it to control us, but it does. We think we are tough, but we aren’t. We think nothing will scare us, but it does. We think that we can put fear in others, but we shouldn’t.

We live in a world where we are all afraid of something. Spiders, mice, snakes, failure, heartbreak, death, life, the future, the past. Basically anything that goes on in our lives, someone, somewhere is afraid of it. But the question I want to ask is, why?

God tells us in Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Why don’t we listen to this and do as He commands? Because fear has a hold of our hearts. He COMMANDS us to let fear go yet here we are freaking out of the things in this world. Whether it be if that guy really likes us, if our next plane ride could be our last, if there is a mouse in our house, if our car will make it to the gas station, if that person who hurt us in the past will come back, if we will have enough money to pay rent. When we let fear in, it grows and festers in us until the point where is controls us and makes us listen to all the lies. We let fear and not faith rule our lives.

It is scary to surrender everything to God, but He should be in control of our lives.

For me, no more. I am done with fear and the hold it has had on me for as long as I can remember. I am done with it trying to ruin my life and my heart. It should have no place in me or in any of us. It is difficult to let fear go because it has always been there. It will try and creep back into my soul, but each time it won’t get there because God has filled my soul with faith. There is no room for fear.
